WHY ROOTED
We wanted tea without the baggage.
Tea is supposed to be simple.
Leaves. Water. A few quiet minutes.
Plastic? Not so much.
Rooted was created to make one of the world’s simplest rituals simple again — with organic tea and stitched cotton tea bags independently tested for microplastics.
THE PROBLEM WAS HIDING IN PLAIN SIGHT
We started looking at the bag.
Most of us spend time thinking about what’s inside our tea bag. We started asking what the bag itself was made of.
Many conventional tea bags use plastic-containing materials or heat-sealing methods. And when something is designed to sit in boiling water, we thought that deserved a closer look.
So we did.
OUR ROOTS

I started Rooted because I couldn’t find the product I was looking for: tea that gave me the convenience of a tea bag without making me question what I was steeping along with it.
What I thought would be a simple search turned into more than two years of testing, sourcing and trying to create a better bag.
The answer wasn’t another clever claim. It was rebuilding the tea bag itself.
So we created ours from unbleached cotton, stitched it closed instead of relying on a plastic heat seal, filled it with organic tea — and then sent it to an independent lab to test it.

We sent our tea bags to an independent third-party lab for microplastic testing, because we don’t think you should have to take a brand’s word for it.

WHAT WE BELIEVE
Better shouldn’t have to mean harder.
We love loose-leaf tea. We don’t always have time for an infuser, a strainer and a sink full of accessories.
Rooted exists for the people who want to make better choices without making their lives more complicated.
A tea bag is convenient. We think it should also be one you can feel good about dropping into your cup.
